Spring Tea
What says spring more than florals at a tea party or brunch? These floral teacup candles fit right in…
Floral teacup candles are the perfect addition to a spring party. If you decide to make teacup candles too, you could use a stray teacup you already have in your kitchen or purchase a new teacup from a favorite store. I personally keep an eye out for these delicate floral teacups when I go to thrift stores and antique shops. There so much fun in the treasure hunt for these unique pieces.
Teacup candles make great gifts to give guests or use them at your party by lighting them at the table to brighten the space. Follow along as I share instructions on how to make these homemade teacup candles yourself.
DIY Teacup Candles
Supplies
Thrifted floral teacups
Candle thermometer (optional)
Empty can (I used an empty 14oz can)
Small sauce pot, filled half full of water
Wooden Skewer or disposable spoon
Instructions
Place a few inches of water in a small pot and bring to a low boil.
Place wax into an empty can and place the can into the pot of simmering water (this is called double boiling).
Use a wooden skewer or spoon and stir wax as it melts.
Once the wax melts (or reaches 150 degrees fahrenheit if using a thermometer) remove from heat.
Dip the metal piece of the wick into the wax and gently place it on the bottom-center of the teacup (the little bit of wax acts as temporary glue).
Slowly add the melted wax to the teacup until it reaches ¼ inch to the top.
Don’t move or touch teacup until wax is fully set.
Use teacup candles as gifts or as sweet additions to your tablescape.
Published Appearance
Last year, I had the honor of having these little teacups make an appearance in Lee’s Summit Lifestyle Magazine, April 2021. I am honored to have had the feature to show how cute they can be used in a floral tablescape. What a pretty spring-time tea party it was. Thanks to Janie Jones for all the beautiful images that made this feature possible.
