Tailgate Styling

To recreate this vintage inspired tailgate vibe follow along with these items. My goal is to always use what I have on hand first. I hunted my house to find most of the things you see here. The way that everything pulls together is by staying within a color scheme like you see here with reds browns and blue accents. Use the styling list here as a guide as you pull from what you have on hand as well.

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon milk

  • Store-bought icing in a tube for laces (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Chop apple pie filling into small pieces and mix with cinnamon. Beat the egg with milk until combined.

  3. Roll out the pie dough to ⅛-inch thick and cut the dough into12  football shapes.

  4. Add 1 ½ tablespoons apple pie filling to 6 of the footballs.

  5. Brush egg wash around the edges and top with remaining 6 football shapes. Use a fork to crimp the edges firmly together. Make two slits on the top of the pie.

  6. Brush with the remaining egg wash and bake for 12 minutes.

  7. After cooled, pipe on laces with icing if using.

Notes

Hand pies can be baked in an air fryer for 8-10 minutes at 350°F.

Any flavor of pie filling may be substituted.Upgrade store-bought cookies by decking them out with delicious ice cream pairings and toppings.

Classic Chili In Frito Bags

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, optional

  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth

  • 1 (15 oz.) can petite diced tomatoes

  • 1 (16 oz.) can cannellini beans beans of your choice, drained and rinsed

  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

  • Individual Frito bags

  1. Add the olive oil to a large soup pot and place it over medium-high heat for two minutes. Add the onion. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add the ground beef to the pot. Break it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for 6-7 minutes, until the beef is browned, stirring occasionally.

  6. Remove the pot from the heat. Let the chili rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

  7. Scoop chili into Frito bags and serve.

Football Goalpost

These vintage inspired goalposts are easy to build and display. Follow along for directions on how to make your own using only a few simple tools and materials.

Then, use these min goalposts in several different ways…

  1. Use as decor to be displayed on a tailgate party food table or truck bed.

  2. Use to play table football as a fun activity for kids and adults alike.

  3. Use for a display in a football-enthusiast kids bedroom or family room.

Supplies Needed:

Step-by-Step:

  1. Using a pipe cutter, measuring tape and sharpie, cut all copper pipes to proper size using the list above.

  2. Next, glue each of the copper pieces together by following the diagram shown here.

  3. Allow glue to dry.

  4. Once dried, place the goalpost into a wooden block using glue to secure into place.

  5. Wait until glue is fully dry before using. Cheers!

Chalkboard Signs

Only tracing skills are needed for this game day project. To create your own chalkboard sign and banner, you will need the following items:

  1. To begin, use a computer or device to type a phrase in a font of choice. I used the words “Touchdown” and “It’s Game Day”.

  2. Measure your chalkboard space and print letters to scale. For reference, my large chalkboard sign required one letter per sheet of standard printer paper.

  3. Once text is printed, rub stick chalk onto the back of each letter.

  4. Tape paper onto the chalkboard in the position you want to transfer the text.

  5. Trace the outline of each letter with a pencil. This will transfer an outline of chalk onto the chalkboard. Remove paper to reveal the traced lines.

  6. Now the fun part… use a chalk marker to darken each transferred letter line, filling in additional bold spaces as needed. Repeat with each letter until complete.
