Table Style

Published in Leawood Lifestyle Magazine, March 2022. Photography by Janie Jones.

In collaboration with Lifestyle Publications, I set out to create an early spring gathering along with Lauren at Lauren Lane Culinarian and photographer Janie Jones from Uncommon Jane. My inspiration for this gathering space is all things green. When I think of March, I think of green. Not just because of Saint Patricks Day but the ever slow creep of green showing up outdoors. I am so ready for it. Along with the green theme I’ve highlighted seasonal items like artichokes that you see in my centerpiece and used as place markers for guests place cards. To make the table come to life, Lauren whipped up a beautiful and delicious green salad and asparagus quiche and strawberry bruschetta. Janie brought all of her camera magic to capture everything oh-so-well.

DIY Glass Etching

Etching glass is a simple and beautiful way to personalize a table scape. For this table, I chose to etch these adorable tiny glass cloches to rest on at each guests plate.

Etching glass is a simple and beautiful way to personalize a table scape. To create, prep glass by wiping the surface clean with rubbing alcohol. Once dry, place stencil on glass and brush etching cream over the area to be etched. Let sit for 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly with water to remove cream. Below is a full list of the items you will need.

For this table, I chose to etch these adorable tiny glass cloches to rest on at each guests plate. Under the cloches sits a small treat to get the party started. This time I chose to use meringues but any sweet or savory bite will do.

Artichoke Centerpiece

Artichokes are flowers too, you know! Using them in a floral arrangement is an unexpected and stunning surprise. In addition, I’ve used these artichokes as place holders for guests place cards to tie the whole table together.

Supplies: 10 small artichokes, 2 varieties of greens, 1 variety of flower, floral foam, 10 wooden skewers and a vase.

Instructions: fill the vase with floral foam and soak with water. Insert one wooden skewer into the stem of each artichoke. To arrange, first insert skewered artichokes into the floral foam. Then, fill gaps with greens and flowers. For additional artichoke love, use them as place holders for guests place cards.

Gift Tags & Place Cards

It’s really all about the details for me… that’s why I take the time to add elements that personalize a space like these place cards and gift tags.

It’s really all about the details for me… that’s why I take the time to add elements that personalize a space like these place cards and gift tags. At this table I’ve used the gift tags to tie small bundles of flowers for guests to enjoy. You could also attach the gift tags to fabric wrapped boxes with parting gifts for guests to take home.

In hopes of spreading the love of gathering, I’ve included printable gift tags and place cards for you to use at your own table. Simply print from the download below using card stock. For gift tags, cut out the squares with a scissors and use a hole punch to create a hole to tie satin ribbon through it. Sign the back of the tag with love from you. I hope you enjoy!
