Independence Day
Celebrating the Red, White & Blue
Happy Independence Day, American friends!
This holiday is the easiest for making things look festive. Just pop a few flags on something and you’re done! Do you think we could manage to do that for Christmas too? Just throw a bunch of tinsel around and call it a day? I’m joking, of course, because I really do love decorating for Christmas. But, the simplicity of decorating for patriotic celebrations is perfect for those lazy summer months when we want to spend every non-working moment relaxing fun outdoors.
Today I am sharing with you a few of my Independence Day styling ideas. These festive additions are meant to not only add style to this patriotic holiday but also maximize time spent with family and friends. I like to style not only just decor but food as well. I’m all about making things beautiful in an easy as possible way… buntings and flags are just thing! Place bunting along entryways or along patio railings. Place flags in floral pots, vases filled with sand, as a garnish on top of your favorite summer dish or on top of cupcakes.
American Flag Buntings come in a variety of sizes. Measure the space to decide what size your area needs.
American Stick Flags come in a wide variety of sizes as well. Have fun by mixing and matching different sizes together.
Red and white throw pillows add an extra pop of color and warmth.
Festive Hand Pies
Spoiler alert, this is a styling hack, not a recipe. Sorry to disappoint the baking-lovers but I’d rather spend time with my family on this holiday. Simply find store made hand pies and tie theme in festive strings along with wooden spoons for eating. YUM!
Supplies Needed
12 berry hand pies
Fresh berries
How to Assemble
Remove packaging from store bought hand pies (found in the bakery section of my grocery store).
Cut bakers twine into 18 inch strips and gently tie into a bow around each hand pie like you would a gift box.
Finally, place a wooden spoon on each hand pie for easy grab-and-go serving.
S’more Bundles
Supplies Needed
Hersheys Chocolate Bars
Large Marshmallows
Graham Crackers
How to Assemble
Cut twine into 12 inch strips
Layer crackers, chocolate and marshmallows.
Gently tie each stack together.
Use bandanas to bundle s'mores (see below) or use as napkins.
If you’re planning on transporting all the s’mores outside then why not tie them in a bandana! This simple hand tie is so cute and easily packages all your s’mores together at once. Enjoy your time with family and friends around the fire without chasing trash in the wind.
